Remnants of tropical storm Gordon whimpered through Cape over the weekend, with less rain and wind that was in the forecast. But its impact was definitely on display Monday as the Mississippi River edges towards flood stage. The Themis Street floodgate was closed, but fortunately the Main Street entrance was still open.
It was a surreal evening with the cooler breeze, clouds resting in the blue sky and cluttered debris floating downstream. Camera in hand, I tried to capture just a small part of the river's stark beauty as it crests. The power of nature on display.
