River Folk
Humans are fascinating and one of my favorite pastimes is to people watch. Whether it's in an airport waiting for a plane, the East Village in New York City or my new favorite 'people watching' spot - the Cape Riverfront Park.
People come down to the river for all kinds of reasons.
Some to enjoy the water and watch the barges chug along.
Others come to spend time with friends, take photographs, or even to dance.
Some folks come to sit and think about life, or to just forget about life for a bit.
And others come to pray, dream or for whatever reason.
Maybe because it's America's river - The Mighty Mississippi.
When photographing people I try to capture a small snapshot of their human uniqueness. That sage-old saying "a picture is worth a thousand words' rings so true - with the exception of one photograph below, I let the pictures tell the stories.

 This young man came up to me and told me that he was also a photographer - he showed me three amazing photos he took on his phone.When I captured this photo of him I thought to myself at this snap in time he was the happiest person on the river. I hope he continues his passion for photography because the pictures he shared with me were magic. |
